English Net Publication Reports on Anti-Shooting Move

Wesley Stanton writing in the English internet magazine Leadshot.com has claimed that the League Against Cruel Sports (LACS) has set in motion processes to rewrite its constitution with more direct opposition to shooting.

Similar directions are also said to have been adopted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). In this case, rather than directly opposing shooting, the RSPCA in a submission to government during a review of animal welfare laws called for increased controls on the rearing of game birds.

Sections of the shooting community in Britain feel that as the pressure increases on fox hunting to hounds, organizations such as the LACS and the RSPCA will become more overtly concerned with opposing shooting.

It has often been noted that animal rights and other organizations with a strong anti-shooting viewpoint tend to base their objections to the taking of game on principles relating to modern urban life rather than accepted conservation practice worldwide, and the overall welfare of animal populations.
