ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

OBJECTIVE: Promote a collective responsibility for protecting the global environment and supporting healthy ecosystems.

Hunters and shooters are leaders in conservation. A clean and healthy ecosystem is the basic foundation of who we are and what we do. As a scientific and educational organization, the WFSA is committed to monitoring and examining environmental issues to ensure continuity and solidarity with future generations.

The WFSA is talking a leadership role in monitoring the latest developments with regard to environmental issues, such as lead ammunition, noise pollution, and plastics disposal.

Through the Environment Committee,  WFSA members have realized that there are numerous studies in various jurisdictions which can be used in policy-making deliberations in other venues. The Environment Committee formalizes the exchange of this type of information.

Additionally, the Environment Committee monitors international treaties which may affect hunting and sport shooting, such as the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA), the Convention on Importation and Trade in Endangered Species and the Bio-Diversity Treaty.
